The idea at the heart of Creative Wellbeing

Our voice is more than just sound. It is how we express who we are, connect with others and begin to imagine change.

Why singing?

A gentle way through the door.

Singing can lower the barrier to connection. It gives us something concrete to do together while opening space for awareness, confidence, expression and trust.

01

Breath & body

Singing brings attention to breathing, posture, movement and physical sensation.

02

Focus & learning

Music engages listening, memory, coordination and the pleasure of developing a skill.

03

Expression

The voice can offer another way to notice, name and communicate what we feel.

04

Connection

Making music with another person can create trust, shared language and belonging.

Singing at Samuel Dundas Creative Wellbeing is educational and supportive; it is not a substitute for medical care, mental-health treatment or counselling.

The story

It began with listening.

My path to teaching voice began during COVID. After addressing some lifelong issues with anxiety, I realised that I had something to pass on to others.

Over time, I noticed that singing students often arrived just wanting to talk. Our shared language of music created trust and unleashed their voice—not only for music, but for reflection, confidence and connection.

That experience became the seed of Samuel Dundas Creative Wellbeing: a place where technical craft and human wellbeing are held with equal care. It also led me to postgraduate study in counselling.
